I Am Going to See the World: Eva Navarro
Eva Navarro explores life's greatest questions in her painting, I Am Going to See the World, coming from the Envie d'Art Gallery. (2) This piece features a woman walking in through three scenes, eventually coming to a pause. Navarro uses the anonymity of the figures to encompass everyone, allowing the viewer to place themselves in the painting. The artist says she doesn't change anything about the figures when she paints in order to "transmit the living presence". (2) This painting allows the viewer to imagine what it would be like to live this woman's life. Navarro has managed to convey the beauty and turmoil that resides in each of us through this piece. (1) She reminds us of our individuality and humanity--that each of us is unique and yet that we all have the same fears, questions, and doubts, making us human. (2)
These anonymous people catch my attention for a few seconds. I follow them and photograph them without their knowledge, always from behind or from above, trying not to get caught...they help me express concerns that I share with most of humanity: the passing of time, the meaning of life, feelings of loneliness, concerns, fear, love... |
